As of the latest update, these cleaning operations have achieved a completion rate of 72 per cent.
Technological Approach to Water Treatment

The ROL project employs an innovative 'Interceptor System P7' for river cleaning. This system functions by intercepting and treating polluted drain water, thereby improving the overall water quality of the rivers. Interceptor pipes are utilised to divert sullage and wastewater from residential, commercial, and institutional sources directly to treatment plants.
Water Quality Standards and Environmental Impact

Following treatment, the water is released back into the rivers classified as Class IIB, making it safe for recreational use and body contact. The treatment plants are designed to foster a self-regulating, natural environment conducive to the growth of aerobic microorganisms. These microorganisms play a crucial role in removing contaminants such as Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), ammoniacal nitrogen, and suspended solids from the water.
