High Activation Rate for Company Vehicles

In contrast to individual private vehicles, all VEP RFID tags issued to company-owned vehicles have been fully activated. The Road Transport Department (JPJ) reported that all tags for company private vehicles are active, indicating complete compliance from this sector. The total number of applications for company private vehicles reached 19,690 as of June 29.
Full Enforcement Commences for Unactivated VEPs

Full enforcement of the VEP system began on July 1, targeting Singapore-registered vehicles that have not registered or activated their VEP tags when entering Malaysia. Inspections are being conducted, with a focus on foreign vehicles that have not yet been registered with VEP. JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that the primary objective at this juncture is to ensure all vehicle owners activate their VEP tags.
Penalties for Non-Compliance

Owners of Singapore-registered vehicles failing to activate their VEP tags will face a RM300 compound under Section 66H(7) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Furthermore, these vehicles will not be permitted to leave Malaysia until the compound is settled and the VEP is activated. JPJ has deployed mobile units at enforcement locations to facilitate immediate resolution of compounds and VEP tag activation for vehicle owners.
