Seizure on July 2

On July 2, at approximately 1:30 AM, law enforcement officers intercepted a lorry driven by a 28-year-old man. A search of the vehicle revealed one tonne of ketum leaves, valued at RM10,000, concealed beneath oil palm saplings. The lorry was reportedly travelling from Gerik and was stopped due to suspicious driving.
Seizure on July 3

The following day, July 3, at around 1:30 PM, a separate incident at the same roadblock led to the detention of a 22-year-old man. Police discovered 200 kg of ketum leaves, estimated to be worth RM2,000, within black plastic bags inside his car. The suspect was reportedly attempting to cross the state border without a permit.
Investigation and Penalties

Both individuals are currently under investigation and remand. The ketum leaves seized are believed to have originated from the northern part of the peninsula and were intended for distribution within Kelantan. The suspects are being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, which carries a potential fine not exceeding RM10,000 or a jail sentence of up to four years upon conviction.
