This sentence was to be served from his date of arrest, August 31, 2017.
Court of Appeal's Decision to Set Aside

The Court of Appeal, however, allowed the prosecution's appeal, setting aside the Muar High Court's decision. A three-member panel found merit in the prosecution's argument, stating that the High Court judge had erred in amending the charge and not ordering the accused to enter his defence for the original murder charge.
Establishment of Prima Facie Case for Murder

The appellate court was satisfied that the prosecution had established a prima facie case for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code at the conclusion of the prosecution's case.
