Three policemen remanded over bribery involving RM6,000 during MCO compliance operation

Three police officers, including a station chief, have been remanded for four days as part of an investigation into a bribery case. The alleged bribe of RM6,000 was paid to avoid being issued summons during a movement control order (MCO) compliance operation. The suspects, aged between 26 and 57, are a sub-inspector and two constables.
Remand Period Granted

Magistrate Lee Kim Keat issued the remand order at the Melaka Court Complex in Ayer Keroh. The suspects are to be held until this Saturday to allow for further investigation into the bribery allegations.
Location of Arrest and Discovery

The three officers were apprehended yesterday evening around 6pm in a raid conducted at the Tengkera Police Station. A sum of RM6,000 in cash, believed to be the bribe money, was discovered within the office of one of the suspects.
Legal Investigation Underway

The case is currently being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. This section pertains to offences related to bribery. If convicted, the penalties include a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine of at least five times the bribe amount or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
