These tracked excavators arrived around 2pm, increasing the total number of excavators involved in the search and rescue (SAR) efforts to ten. The deployment of this heavy machinery aims to enhance the ongoing operations to locate the remaining nine missing victims following the landslide tragedy.
Malaysian Armed Forces Excavator Deployment

The two newly arrived excavators are Komatsu Tracked Excavators (Med) varian, which were recently acquired by the RAJD on May 31 under the 2021 Rolling Plan 3 Acquisition. Their arrival brings the total count of excavators actively engaged in the SAR operation to ten. Previously, eight excavators were assigned to sectors A and C for dredging and earthmoving tasks, with the process being conducted in stages to avoid impacting any potential victims.
Advanced Detection Technology Utilised

In addition to heavy machinery, the Ground Penetrating Radar tool, provided by the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), has also been deployed. This technology assists in detecting bodies buried beneath the ground, complementing the physical excavation efforts.
Sniffer Dog Units on Standby

A total of eleven sniffer dogs have been placed on standby to aid the SAR operation. These highly trained animals include six from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), four from the Royal Malaysian Police, and one from the MAF. Their presence is crucial for identifying the scent of victims in the challenging terrain.
