Two Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) officers from the Information Technology Division were among 12 people detained in connection with an alleged hacking scheme involving the MyIMMs system. The case centres on suspicions that the syndicate paid bribes ranging from RM1,000 to RM6,000 to JIM officers to help obtain approval for foreign workers’ temporary employment visit passes (PLKS) without following proper procedures. MACC also said five male suspects were remanded until July 31 and another group was remanded until July 30, after arrests were made between 2pm and 5pm on Tuesday.

Remand orders were issued by Magistrate Ezrene Zakariah after an application by MACC at the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court. MACC said it conducted searches at company premises, JIM Penang, and JIM headquarters in Putrajaya, and seized items including RM186,360 in cash, SGD700 (estimated at RM2,214.22), jewellery valued at RM15,700, and electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops and other equipment estimated at RM36,000.
The investigation was framed under specific MACC Act provisions
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests and said the case was being investigated under Section 17(a) and Section 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009. MACC also said Op Crack was carried out by its Intelligence Division in collaboration with JIM’s Intelligence Division, with assistance from CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM), Telekom Malaysia, the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), and MACC’s Technology Forensics Division.
