The MCO has led to an imbalance in the supply and demand of perishable goods in Sabah, resulting in a glut of vegetables. To mitigate this, the state is working on redirecting excess supply from areas like Kundasang and Ranau to other locations within Sabah that have a need. For instance, approximately 35 tonnes of vegetables, including cabbages from Kundasang, along with pomelos and watermelons from Tawau, are being transported to markets in Kuala Lumpur. Furthermore, coconuts and bananas are also being considered for export to support local farmers. The Sabah government is also preparing a second stimulus package that will focus on food security and aid other affected sectors.
