The permits for employers, initially concentrated in sectors such as construction, agriculture, manufacturing, plantation, and specific services like restaurants and wholesale, have been extended to encompass a wider array of industries. This means more employers across different business categories can now leverage the RTK programme to legalise their foreign workforce. Quota approvals within the programme now allocate 70 per cent directly based on applications that pass verification screening by the enforcement division. Since its commencement on November 16 of the previous year until November 16 of the current year, the RTK programme has seen significant registration figures. A total of 14,788 employers and 255,909 foreign workers have registered. The Immigration Department has explicitly stated that no third parties or agents are appointed to manage the programme, urging employers to engage directly to prevent fraudulent dealings.
