Polling Stations in Kemaman to Close at 6 PM Today

Polling stations across the Kemaman Parliamentary constituency are scheduled to close at 6 PM today, December 2. This marks the end of the voting period for the by-election, after which the vote tallying process will commence. A total of 141,382 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots across 49 polling stations, each equipped with 244 streams.
Voting Period Underway

The polls opened at 8 AM this morning, allowing voters to cast their ballots throughout the day. The Election Commission chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh, anticipates a turnout of up to 70 per cent, though this figure is subject to weather conditions, with forecasts indicating continuous rain.
Voter Eligibility and Early Voting

In total, 141,790 individuals are eligible to vote in the Kemaman constituency, including 387 police personnel, six military personnel and three of their spouses, and 12 overseas voters. All eligible police and military personnel have already exercised their right through postal ballots. Additionally, three spouses of military personnel participated in early voting on November 28 at the Kijal Police Station.
By-Election Context

This by-election is a straight fight between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and PAS representative Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar. The election is being held due to the Terengganu Election Court's decision on September 26 to annul the victory of PAS candidate Che Alias Hamid in the 15th general election. The Kemaman by-election is the sixth by-election to be held following the GE15.
