These suitcases were intended for a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi scheduled for July 14. In a separate incident on July 13, 12.675 kg of cannabis buds, worth RM1.014 million, were intercepted at the KLIA Customs mail and courier centre. These drugs were concealed within children's toy boxes and were believed to be en route for export to Europe via cargo services.
Cigarette Smuggling Foiled

KLIA Customs also successfully thwarted two attempts to smuggle a substantial quantity of cigarettes on July 29 and July 30. The total seizure amounted to 1.53 million cigarette sticks, with an estimated value of approximately RM1.35 million, inclusive of duties and taxes. One operation on July 29 uncovered 410,000 cigarettes at a warehouse within the KLIA Free Commercial Zone. These cigarettes, suspected of being imported without duty payment, were falsely declared as clothing. The following day, on July 30, a further 1.12 million cigarettes were found in a warehouse in the same zone. These cigarettes had arrived from an Asian country for transit and were reportedly destined for Oceania, having been declared as slippers to evade detection.
