The Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Kuching branch has dissolved its election machinery for the Padungan constituency due to a discrepancy in the candidate list submitted to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). The branch chairperson, Datuk Lily Yong, expressed disappointment, stating that the process led to chaos and a loss of volunteer support. This action was taken because the approved GPS candidate, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, was not among the names recommended by the Kuching branch.
Branch Recommendations Overlooked

The SUPP Kuching branch had put forward two names for consideration: Bong Lian Huan and Jong Yean Pin. On December 2, the party president, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, informed the branch that only Jong's name had been submitted to GPS. However, the following day, a different list of names appeared, which included individuals not affiliated with the Kuching branch and one whose party membership was less than the three years stipulated by the party's constitution for eligibility.
