Notices Issued for Major Offences

The CNY Special Operation, held from February 13 to 22, specifically targeted what are termed the "7 Big Sins" of driving. Out of the 38,135 vehicles inspected, 5,136 notices were issued under the Road Transport Act 1987 for a range of infractions. These included 85 cases of failure to wear seatbelts, 49 instances of running red lights, 36 cases of overtaking on double lines, and 32 instances of failure to wear helmets.
Overloading and Other Violations

In addition to the "7 Big Sins," the operation also addressed other critical safety concerns. A total of 45 cases of overloading were detected and cited under the Road Transport Act 1987. Further violations included 24 cases of continuous driving in the right lane, 17 instances of dangerous overtaking, and 11 drivers caught using mobile phones while operating their vehicles.
Enforcement on Public Transport

Perak JPJ also extended its enforcement activities to public service vehicles, particularly express buses. Inspections were conducted both at depots, where 53 checks were carried out, and at terminals, with 260 inspections performed. To further monitor driver compliance, six undercover bus trips were undertaken as part of the operation.
Drug Screening for Drivers

As part of a collaborative effort with the Perak National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), a total of 158 drivers were subjected to urine screening. This initiative aimed to ensure that drivers, especially those operating public transport, were not under the influence of drugs. One driver failed the screening test, leading to further action.
