New Highways Included in Open Payment System

The five highways newly integrated into the open payment system are the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), the SPRINT highway, the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas), the SMART tunnel, and the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (MEX). This expansion brings the total count of highways supporting open payment to eleven, with other participating routes including the Sungai Besi Expressway, New Pantai Expressway, Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh), Guthrie Corridor Expressway, Penang Bridge, and Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE).
Phased Implementation Towards MLFF

The open payment system allows highway users greater flexibility in their payment methods, moving away from a sole reliance on existing providers like Touch 'n Go. This initiative is also a significant step in preparing for the transition to the Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system, which aims to provide a barrier-less toll collection experience. The overall implementation of both the open payment system and the MLFF is planned to occur in phases.
Full MLFF Implementation Targeted for Late 2024

The comprehensive rollout of the open payment system and the MLFF is projected to be completed by the third quarter of 2024. This phased approach, which involves careful planning, suitable technology, and consultations with all stakeholders, is intended to resolve any potential issues before the full deployment across all Malaysian highways. The Sungai Besi Expressway has been designated as the initial site for a Proof of Concept (POC) for the MLFF system, scheduled for late October, to thoroughly assess its functionality.
