Healthier SG Enrollment for Seniors Set for H2 2023

Singapore residents aged 60 and above will be able to enroll in the Healthier SG programme from the second half of next year. This national initiative aims to foster stronger patient-doctor relationships by encouraging individuals to select a family general practitioner (GP) for lifelong health management. The ultimate goal is to proactively prevent illness and enhance the overall health of Singaporeans.

The Healthier SG programme is designed to shift the focus towards preventing illness rather than solely treating it. Upon enrollment, residents will be encouraged to choose a family doctor who will act as their primary point of contact for holistic health management. This approach seeks to forge lasting connections between patients and their chosen healthcare providers, ensuring continuity of care.
Development and Consultation Process

The Healthier SG plan was initially announced in March by Health Minister Ong Ye Kung. Since then, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has engaged in extensive consultations with over 6,000 Singapore residents and various stakeholders, including private GPs, employers, and community partners. These consultations were instrumental in shaping the key features of the programme, which were subsequently detailed in a White Paper submitted to Parliament.
Benefits for Enrolled Residents

Individuals who enroll in Healthier SG will benefit from a free initial onboarding health consultation. They will work with their chosen doctor to develop a personalised health plan, which may include lifestyle adjustments, regular health check-ins, and recommended screenings and vaccinations. Singapore citizens enrolled in the programme will receive fully subsidised nationally recommended screenings and vaccinations and will no longer need to make a cash co-payment when using MediSave for chronic care management.
