Project Approval and Funding Model

The WISE project received approval from the Cabinet on December 14. It is designated to be developed by a concessionaire utilising the Private Financing Initiative (PFI) model, a mechanism that leverages private sector funding for public infrastructure projects.
Strategic Alternative Route

The federal government is expediting the construction of WISE as a strategic measure to alleviate traffic congestion on the North-South Expressway (PLUS), particularly along the frequently congested Menora Tunnel stretch. The proposed 60km highway will serve as an alternative to the Menora Tunnel route, featuring three two-way lanes and traversing through several locations including Gopeng, Batu Gajah, Siputeh, Manong, Tronoh, Beko, Seri Iskandar, and concluding in Kuala Kangsar.
