KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit Services to Fully Resume on January 3, 2023

Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) will fully resume its Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Ekspres and KLIA Transit services starting January 3, 2023. This resumption aims to accommodate the growing number of passengers following a period where combined train services were operated due to the significant decrease in ridership during the Covid-19 pandemic. The dedicated services will reintroduce the non-stop 28-minute journey from KL Sentral to KLIA.
Resumption of Dedicated Services

The decision to bring back separate KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services is a direct response to the increasing passenger numbers. Previously, ERL had combined these services to manage reduced demand that stemmed from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The full resumption signifies a return to pre-pandemic operational patterns and aims to provide a more efficient travel experience for airport-bound passengers.
Revised Service Frequencies

With the dedicated services back in operation, the KLIA Ekspres will run every 20 minutes during both morning and evening peak hours. Concurrently, the KLIA Transit service will see its frequency revised to every 15 minutes during weekday peak hours. Importantly, the peak hour period for KLIA Transit will be extended, now concluding at 8pm, an hour later than the previous 7pm cut-off.
Operational Adjustments and Promotions

The departure point for KLIA Ekspres trains will also revert to its original location at the Departure Hall platform. To mark the return of these services and coinciding with the Chinese New Year celebration, ERL is introducing a "Double Hop-piness Rewards" promotion for its EkspreSmiles members. This offer allows members to earn double EkspreSmiles points on selected online ticket purchases made between January 3 and January 31, 2023.
Online Purchase Incentives

Furthermore, customers are encouraged to sign up as EkspreSmiles members and purchase tickets through the KLIA Ekspres mobile application or the official website. By doing so, they can benefit from a 10 per cent discount on online ticket purchases and simultaneously earn points. These accumulated points can then be redeemed for future discounts, providing an added incentive for utilising the digital platforms for booking travel.
