Mitigation Measures Prepared

The state government has implemented several mitigation measures to address potential water shortages. These preparations include the deployment of pumps at Sungai Johor, Sungai Tiram, and Tasik Biru Seri Alam, along with a raw water transfer project from Sungai Lukah. These measures are designed to augment water supply if levels at the WTPs decrease significantly due to the ongoing El Nino.
Comprehensive Dam Monitoring

In addition to WTP-specific preparations, the state government is continuously monitoring all 16 dams across Johor. This includes the smallest dam located in Gunung Ledang, Muar, which has a capacity of 0.39 million cubic metres and can sustain supply for approximately 13 days without rainfall. The largest dam, Bekok Dam, possesses a significantly larger capacity, capable of lasting up to 299 days without replenishment.
Consideration for Cloud Seeding

As a further contingency, the state government has indicated that it would consider conducting cloud seeding operations if deemed necessary. This measure, alongside the existing infrastructure preparations and dam monitoring, forms part of the state's strategy to manage water resources during the dry period. Johor has previously been identified as one of eight states susceptible to El Nino's effects, based on experiences in 2015 and 2016.
