Consumers can typically distinguish between bank-owned and independent ATMs by the presence of a bank's logo. ATMs operated by independent companies generally do not display a bank's logo, serving as the primary visual indicator for users.
Action for Non-Compliance

Customers who are still charged the RM1 fee when using a bank-owned ATM are advised by Bank Negara Malaysia to lodge a complaint with the central bank. This allows for follow-up action to be taken against the financial institution concerned.
