Project Progress and Milestones

MRT Corp has indicated that the Penang Mutiara LRT Line project is progressing steadily through various key delivery milestones. These achievements span across engineering design, construction planning, land readiness, and the implementation of railway systems. The corporation is actively coordinating workstreams to maintain the project's schedule, with a current emphasis on completing detailed construction drawings for Civil Main Contract 1 (CMC1). This phase involves critical infrastructure such as pile caps, piers, and viaducts, extending from Silicon Island to Komtar.
Ongoing Construction and Land Acquisition

Construction activities for CMC1 are already underway, with 45 pile caps and 32 pier columns constructed. Work is currently being carried out across 14 of the planned 19 construction sections. In parallel, land acquisition for the CMC1 package has seen 93 per cent of the required acreage made available for construction. Significant progress has also been made at the reclaimed Silicon Island, where soil investigation has commenced, preparing the ground for future depot construction. Site preparation works at the Tapak Pesta site are also complete, enabling construction to commence soon.
