Resorts World Genting Will Host the Grand Final of the 21st Malaysia National Lion Dance Championship

The grand final of the 21st Malaysia National Lion Dance Championship is set to take place at Resorts World Genting. This prestigious event will culminate on September 27th at the Arena of Stars, following the semi-finals held the previous day.
Semi-Finalists Prepare for Competition

Twenty of Malaysia's leading lion dance troupes have qualified for the semi-finals, which will be held on September 26th. These troupes emerged from a pool of 88 teams that participated in the regional qualifying rounds held in June. The semi-final draw ceremony, which determined the performance order, was conducted at Wisma Genting.
A Platform for Talent and Tradition

Spencer Lee, Resorts World Genting's executive vice-president of sales, marketing and public relations, highlighted the championship's role as a significant platform for showcasing Malaysian lion dance talent and celebrating a cherished tradition. The competition aims to identify the best troupe to represent Malaysia at the Genting World Lion Dance Championship in the following year. The event is supported by the Federation of Selangor & Federal Territory Dragon & Lion Dance Association.
Substantial Prize Money and Awards

Significant prize money is allocated for the competing troupes. The national champion will be awarded RM20,000, with the first and second runners-up receiving RM12,000 and RM9,000, respectively. The seven other finalists in the grand final will each receive RM3,000, and all 20 semi-finalists are guaranteed RM2,000. Additionally, a RM3,000 Best Difficulty Move Award will be presented for the most technically impressive performance during the semi-final round.
Pre-Competition Lion Dance Display Available

Prior to the main events, visitors to Resorts World Genting can experience a special lion dance display at the Genting Guest Xperience Centre, located next to Crockfords, which commenced on August 1st. This display offers insights into the artistry and dedication involved in the sport. Tickets for the championship are available for purchase, with two-day passes starting at RM168 and single-day tickets from RM99, plus a RM4 processing fee.
