Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Congratulated Sultan Ibrahim of Johor on His Election as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as the Leader of the 15th Parliament, has formally congratulated Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor on his election as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. This congratulatory motion, which also included a pledge of allegiance from the House, was presented in the Dewan Rakyat.
Pledge of Allegiance to the New King

As the Leader of the 15th Parliament, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim conveyed congratulations and pledged the allegiance of the august House to Sultan Ibrahim of Johor. He also extended similar congratulations and a pledge of allegiance to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, on his election as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Election by the Conference of Rulers

The election of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term, commencing January 31, 2024, was confirmed at the Special 263rd Conference of Rulers’ Meeting held on Friday. Sultan Ibrahim will succeed Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, whose reign concludes on January 30.
