The HSA noted that the five patients who experienced serious adverse reactions had pre-existing conditions that may have contributed to their reactions. Specifically, these individuals had a history of allergic reactions or adverse effects to other COVID-19 vaccines, such as Pfizer/Comirnaty or Sinovac-CoronaVac. Furthermore, they also reported a history of general drug or food allergies.

General prevalence and symptoms of vaccine reactions

The HSA indicated that the adverse reactions reported for Nuvaxovid, such as rash, eyelid swelling, numbness, dizziness, chest pains, and vasculitis, were largely consistent with those observed in clinical studies or reported with other COVID-19 vaccines. Generally, out of the 28 reported reactions, 82% (23 cases) were not serious, aligning with the understanding that most vaccine side effects are mild and temporary.
