Circumstances of the Discovery

A 30-year-old neighbour, acting on behalf of the 65-year-old house owner, discovered the object while cleaning out personal belongings left by the previous tenant. The neighbour was asked to clear out items left behind by the former tenant approximately seven months prior to the discovery. Upon finding what appeared to be a mortar bomb, the neighbour photographed the device and sent it to the house owner.
Police Involvement and Investigation

The house owner subsequently filed a police report on the same day the object was found. Officers from the Melaka Police Contingent Headquarters' Bomb Disposal Unit were dispatched to the scene and confirmed the item to be a 60-millimetre Practice Inert mortar bomb, which was determined to be non-explosive. The device was then transported to the Melaka IPK for disposal. Authorities are actively working to locate the former tenant to aid in their ongoing investigation.
