Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar has been proclaimed the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. The proclamation ceremony took place in Melaka at a hotel in Alor Gajah. This development was asserted by former Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Rais Yatim, who stated that the proceedings were conducted in accordance with the state's customary law (adat) and followed by a royal address, with lawyers and adat officials present as witnesses.
Adat Leaders and Officials Witnessed the Proclamation

Undang Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad and Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri were physically present at the proclamation ceremony. Additionally, three other adat leaders participated in the proceedings remotely via Zoom. Lawyers and adat officials also served as witnesses to the event, which reportedly used scripts prepared by experts in Negeri Sembilan customary law.

Preceding Appointment by Undang

The proclamation follows an earlier announcement in April by four Undang, who declared their appointment of Tunku Nadzaruddin as the new Ruler. Rais Yatim has also raised questions regarding the legality of the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan Legislative Assembly, arguing that Tunku Nadzaruddin had already been appointed by the Undang on April 19. This stance suggests a belief among some traditional leaders that their authority supersedes other constitutional processes in matters of succession.
