Instead, it increasingly presents itself as a responsible guardian, tasked with preventing the nation from deteriorating further. When contentious decisions arise, DAP leaders often emphasize the necessity of working discreetly from within the governmental structure. While these considerations are indeed real within a fragmented parliamentary system, an overemphasis on such pragmatism can inadvertently foster an ideology of perpetual retreat. This approach risks perpetuating a cycle where the survival of the government is prioritised over the definition and pursuit of its overarching purpose.
