PKR Youth information chief Danish Hairudin has accused Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh of altering his position regarding the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI). Danish contends that this shift is occurring because the RCI's findings and subsequent arrests did not conform to Akmal's desired political narrative. Previously, Akmal was notably vocal in advocating for the report's declassification.

Danish argues that if Umno, as a component of the unity government, harbours concerns about the RCI report, these issues should be formally presented and debated within Parliament. He stressed that findings concerning "creative accounting," significant governance failures, and substantial investment losses should not be disregarded. Danish further asserted that any new evidence uncovered should be thoroughly investigated, irrespective of the individuals implicated, and that no one should be granted immunity.

The PKR Youth chief alluded to the potential for a repetition of tactics seen in the 1MDB scandal, where core issues were allegedly obscured. He emphasised that Tabung Haji serves millions of depositors and is not an entity to be influenced by political parties. Danish encouraged a comprehensive acceptance of the RCI's findings, rather than a persistent pursuit of an inquiry until a politically convenient outcome is achieved.

This development follows Akmal's earlier defence of calls for a new RCI into the transfer of TH's assets to Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd (UJSB) during the initial Pakatan Harapan administration. Akmal’s remarks were a response to PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, who questioned the necessity of an additional inquiry, echoing the sentiment expressed by Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim regarding the need for complete transparency.
