This increased capacity is part of a larger investment designed to reinforce Mattel Malaysia's position as a global hub for die-cast production.

The operations in Penang are entirely export-oriented, with all products manufactured in Malaysia distributed worldwide. The exclusivity of Mattel Malaysia's role in producing Hot Wheels singles, which were identified as the world's top-selling toy in 2021 by The NPD Group, underscores the strategic importance of its Malaysian manufacturing base.

Recently, Mattel announced a licensing partnership with Proton to create a Hot Wheels model based on the original Proton Saga. This collaboration signifies the inclusion of Malaysia's first car into the Hot Wheels singles collection, aiming to engage car enthusiasts globally and within Malaysia. The Proton Saga Hot Wheels model is anticipated to be available in the market shortly.
