However, many of these Mara digital malls have reportedly struggled, leading to company closures and financial losses for Mara itself. Extended Exemption Period for Freight Forwarders

In response to implementation challenges and ongoing assessments, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) has extended the exemption period for freight forwarders to comply with the 51 per cent Bumiputera equity participation requirement until December 2022. This extension was initiated to allow the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of Bumiputera involvement in the logistics industry. The findings from this study are intended to be presented to the Cabinet to guide future decisions on Bumiputera participation in the sector and to ensure its continued growth.
