The pineapple industry has received substantial support, including a RM13 million allocation channelled in mid-2020 to stimulate its economic recovery, particularly in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. This funding benefited approximately 5,000 individuals across the entire industry value chain, from growers and transporters to sellers, exporters, marketers, and agro-based entrepreneurs. Furthermore, specific initiatives like the Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package (PRE) have provided RM328,555 in aid, including equipment such as spray pumps and transportation lorries. Terengganu, for instance, has received an RM1.5 million allocation for high-value pineapple crop development and other related projects.
