New Entry Fee Structure from 2027

Malaysian taxis that currently pay a flat S$2 (RM6) monthly fee to operate in Singapore will face a significant change. From the beginning of 2027, each entry into Singapore will incur a charge of S$15 (RM50). This revised model represents a substantial increase for taxis making frequent trips across the border.
Objective to Equalise Operating Costs

The LTA stated that the primary intention behind this revised charging model is to reduce the disparity in operating costs between Malaysian and Singaporean taxis engaged in cross-border transport. Currently, Malaysian taxis must hold both a Public Service Vehicle Licence (PSVL) and an Asean Public Service Vehicle Permit (PSVP) to be authorised for such operations.
Context of Expanded Cross-Border Operations

This fee adjustment follows broader changes implemented on May 4 that expanded the scope of cross-border taxi services. Under the updated framework, licensed taxis are now permitted to pick up and drop off passengers at any location within Singapore and Johor. Additionally, more designated pick-up points have been established on both sides of the Causeway to facilitate these services.
